Too often artworks by big or established artists are brash and obvious. Too many use a big canvas and go for the bigger is better option. It’s all too easy to make a splash like that.
There is nothing wrong in taking some time with artworks and actually enjoying them as objects and reperesentations of things. It might not be obvious, but taking time to look and see what an artist might be saying is important.
In the drawing above, simple objects have been used to create an artwork using mainly lines to create a sense of intimacy and interest. Through the variety of use of line the shapes of chair and table appear and receed creating visual interest.
Next time when you are painting or drawing or viewing an artwork take some time to try and see how the artist has made use of the materials. Hopefully, more than just a splash!
