Looking for some info on materials and specially canvases and the type of ground or preparation required before you start painting I found Art Spectrum canvas page. It is a good introduction to various grounds and types of canvas.

Not too technical but enough to get an idea of what to ask for in the art shop and advice on what to look for in a canvas frame.

I am re reading it too in light of some recent commissions - more on that soon tho
